The Teflon Donnie

During the 1980,s the Teflon Don, John  Gotti of the New York Gambino family was so named because he survived 3 high profile trials. That the trials were fixed didn’t come out until later. He died in 2002 in prison though.

I mention this only for the similarity to Teflon Donnie who may or may not be associated with any crime families in New York other than his own. Trump University ran a scam . They offered courses in real estate and asset management and wealth creation. The organisation was not accredited so awarded no certificates but used high pressure tactics to sell retreat places. There was a lawsuit in 2013 which doesn’t seem to have gone anywhere. But two class action cases in federal Court llad to him saying he would not settle but then after being given the Presidency in 2016 he settles the cases for 25 million.

Then there was the Trump foundation which was closed because Trump had used the charity money to help his campaign contributions. A judge ordered the Foundation dissolved Trump was ordered to pay 2 million between 8 charities. Unfortunately the judge wouldn’t ban Trump from holding a similar position in future, on any other board.

Donnie has got away with a lot if you include no jail time for the above. He got very close to violence with all his chants of Lock Her Up during his election and now he’s doing it again. This time he tells the World he’s happy to let each governor decide when they will start returning to work and of course he wants it sooner or later like May 1st perhaps,So, he has  some Republican Trolls armed to the teeth chanting slogans on the steps on each Governors Residence who have refused to release the lockdown until they think it’s safe they want to go by what the experts say not what Trump says will start the economy. That of course is his overriding concern in an election year.

USPS,is an American institution. The staff who sort and deliver the mail have been putting their lives on the line to get the mail out. With so many businesses closed due to the virus the amount of parcels to be delivered had dropped off a lot and have left the USPS short on funds. If things don’t pick up by June they’ll have to fold. Enter Donnie who it seems doesn’t like USPS. He said he would not pass any package that included funds for them. Then Congress told  them they could borrow 10 billion, half of what they needed and repayable. Yet no other big business has been offered a loan. It seems even the offered money has not been forthcoming. Trump wants the USPS to close so it can’t be used for postal voting in the coming elections. It might be worth going to your Representative or Senator and telling them you want USPS to be saved and that you want a National postal vote this year for safety’s sake, remind them their seat may be in the balance come November. Though I doubt any Democrat will argue. If Trump is allowed to  privatise USPS you can be sure charges will go up as Trump wants to hurt Amazon shipments to repay their owner for some remarks.

Stay Indoors and Stay Well. Hugs all Round

For someone who lives across the pond, you certainly do understand the situation here, and you have Trump pegged to a ‘T’. Sigh. We have one last chance to save this nation from destruction from within on November 3rd. Will we rise to the occasion? Remains to be seen, doesn’t it?

Hello David. I agree with Jill, you summed up the situation in the US very well. Thanks for the suggestion on the USPS, we must keep the Republicans from privatizing it. Be well. Hugs

Reblogged this on Filosofa's Word and commented:
A day or two ago (I lose track anymore) I posted an opinion by a citizen of the UK listing the reasons the Brits do not like Donald Trump (putting it mildly). Today, a UK friend has chimed in with his view of Trump, his many scams, and now his attempt to destroy the USPS as we know it. I’m coming to see that our friends across the pond see our own situation more clearly than we do sometimes. Thanks David … great summation!

In the very early hours this morning, after having sent off a rather lengthy email to a very good friend, I discovered this arrival along with a few others amidst my inbox. I immediately opened what is always considered a special treat from “The BUTHIDARS”. You never disappoint! Too tired then to add a coherent comment, I do so now. The allusion to the Trump Crime Family is an apt one not only of the past, but also of the present and the foreseeable future. Donald Trump is the Godfather and it only remains to be seen which of the offspring rises to the coveted place of Boss/Don when he departs his mortal shell. The “Teflon” coat which he wears comes from wealth and the position which he presently holds…both are used to his advantage to protect that coating. That you keep abreast of happenings in the USA is obvious by the astute observations found in this post, as well as the well-reasoned comments found on other blogs. I must add that you do have a coveted position as an observer from afar, as opposed to living in the midst of Trump’s disastrous presidency. The USPS is a treasured vital business and is especially dear to me…my Mother was a Pennsylvania Postmistress for many years at a small local office. That office was the front half of the home of the former Postmaster and where my Mother served until her retirement. Thank-you!

A late-night letter, eh? I think I might know to whom you were writing in the wee hours 😉 But to the point, yes, David has a clear understanding of what is happening to our country … you remember that expression “Can’t see the forest for the trees”? I think in some portion of the people in this country, that is true … too immersed in the everyday detritus to see the bigger picture. Hugs, dear Ellen!

You’re a very kind lady and I appreciate your words. I couldn’t afford to live in the US until they considered their population and brought the cost of drugs down and put a decent health service in place.

I think I’ve become cynical in my old age, and then I read something like this and realise I’m still not cynical enough. How do creeps like this keep getting away with stuff that would see a ‘normal’ person sent to jail? -sigh- That was rhetorical. Clearly tRump does, and of course, he’s not the only one. 😦
