Christmas 2016

Here we are at Christmas 2016. Has the World improved since this time last year? Not a lot.
Hopefully with the fall of Aleppo and the current removal of all the civilians from the last remaining parts of the city all the Western soldiers will feel able to depart Syria. With Russian forces there and no-one wanting to confront them we’ll have to let things fall as they will. If wee go in to take Assad out and put him on trial the killing of civilians will probably continue under the Russians and we could end up at war with them if we interfere.

In America my friends are worried because the President elect is continuing to appoint totally inappropriate people to his cabinet posts. He himself is still making statements about what he’ll do when January is over. It doesn’t always make sense but when it does you can guarantee it’s usually something nasty designed either to hurt the planet or to hurt the gay community. It seems Mr Trump and the Republicans don’t believe in live and let live. Since they now control both houses and will also control the judiciary it looks like they can do as they like. And with appointees in all the key positions in direct opposition to what the Office is for it seems climate change will take a bashing and the opening of more coal mines and oil fields will go ahead. The Country may never recover.

So, as we approach Christmas Day 2016 I shall be hoping the World can achieve a little more peace as the year changes and that mankind might find his taste for killing his own kind has left but his taste for rebuilding and for tolerance have grown.

I shall also be hoping that Trump will surprise everyone with a change of heart. Where the coal mines are left untouched and global warming is accepted as the threat it is. Maybe he’ll leave Gay marriage in place, accepting that gays have the same rights as the rest of us to love.

We’ll have to enter 2017 with an air of hope and eternal optimism.

Have a Happy Christmas and a Brilliant New Year.

Hugs to You All.

Merry Christmas Teagan with wishes for a Great New Year.
Here we are again at the end of a year wishing for peace to arrive and yet it always seems to escape us. Perhaps it’s us who are wrong and the killing is the natural state of affairs. Here we go wishing for the moon again. Health, Wealth and Happiness I wish for you.

  4. Wish you all the best of the best because you worry about the rest of the world.
On a lighter side, David, this is a verse I picked up somewhere:
    Have a Merry Christmas
    And a Happy New Year
    Pockets full of money
    And a belly full of beer. 😀 ❤ ❤

You’re too kind to me Tess, thank you.
I agree with the first three lines but the last one is worrying, it already looks like I drank the beer and the wine and everything else with my Father Christmas stomach. On the bright side, I have no hangovers to worry about drinking Pepsi.
      Have a Wonderful Christmas,

I love how hopeful you are, dear David and I guess stranger thing have happened. Trump has no real caring or philosophy, he’s an opportunist, maybe he’ll see the opportunity in being a decent human being for once in his life.
I wish you and yours the Happiest of Christmases!!! Wishing everyone all the best during the holiday season and all the year through. Happy Holidays and all the best in 2017! 🙂
Massive there’s always hope hugs xoxox

If I didn’t have hope Dear Donna I’d know just how bad the human race really is, and die.At times in the past I’ve seen the truth and tried but now I’m trying to keep a veil on that and convince myself we’re fundamentally decent.
I have a feeling the Trumpocracy may be about to prove once and for all we’re not very nice as a race. I’m grateful for the exceptions like you who keep bolstering my hopes and keeping me going.
I wish your whole family a happy Yuletide and a Fantastic New Year.

  7. Here I come, late to the fray as usual! But be of good cheer, David; I have a feeling Trump will prove less of a fork-tailed demon than the media would have him painted, and he might even blow a fresh draught of air through those bureaucratic White House corridors! As for Assad, I am sure his Russian ally was bought for a price, which he will now be required to pay. Certainly his megalomania will be trimmed, and personally I would be not in the least surprised if he isn’t quietly retired before 2017 is out.
I’m with Trump a little, where Russia is concerned. It seems to me there are too many establishment figures in both US and Britain who make their living out of ant-Russian paranoia. Maybe it is time to view these international sniping sessions in a different light – not to show weakness, but at least to show some humility and understanding. Anyway, all the best for 2017! Hugs, Fred.

I’m not so sure it’s the press that have labelled Trump as a fork tailed demon as much as his own words have and certainly his appointments have gone against the policies of the existing administration. It’s just as opposite the energy saving and the Global warming awareness as it’s possible to get. The white supremacists don’t help either.
I really don’t mind the Russians but you must admit their ruling elite never see to have lost their previous paranoia., they would rather dominate than co-exist with. Which is where Assad may have made a mistake. To stay in power now he could well be a puppet. I don’t know whether they tried to affect he U.S. elections but even if they did I don’t think the U.S.can scream foul as I’m sure they and the UK have tried to affect the Russian ones too.
I wish you a fantastic 2017 Frederick starting with a Happy Saturday night changeover.
