I have always promised myself to keep this site religion free since I have no beliefs in that direction myself. And, I tend to find that within religion. the ordinary people tend to be much of a muchness. People prepared to get on with their lives causing no harm to anyone.
Today I see that many people are laying the latest atrocities at the door of Islam. Whilst to me Islam has over the years , thanks mainly to Imams translating the Qu’ran to achieve their own ends, has become less tolerant of many things especially where women are concerned, it’s people have not changed much. They still try to go on about their day’s work and live their lives according to their beliefs. They are not terrorists and do not go round looking for atrocities to commit. There are however fundamentalists in that religion who indoctrinate the fanatics who will happily kill. The West has it’s own fundamentalists who incite hatred of others and practice intolerance and now New Zealand is feeling the force of it’s own Pastor of hate who openly prays for the suicide of a gay Christian.
Over the weekend the siege in Australia resulted in two dead at the hands of a twisted individual known to the authorities. He may have been a Muslim but he was not representative of Islam. Yesterday vicious killers went into a school in Pakistan and took over 100 lives, mainly children. They may have been Muslim but they are not Islam. Moderate clerics ( and they are the majority) all over the world reeled in shock when this happened and condemned it straight away. No-one but a deranged killer would deny a child an education, a life a future. I feel strongly for the poor families of those children who did not return home alive from school. I feel very sorry for the State who have lost part of a generation of promise and who may have gone on to do great things.
That the killers are themselves now dead is small comfort. It doesn’t return life to one child. Their power base lies in the indoctrination of those who often know no better or just taking those who have a propensity for killing. There are those who gain from the division between the various religions and countries.I want to remove those divisions. I want to prove to the other side that we , like them, are not evil. The logo that I use is hands around the world and my method is as you know Hugs. I would ask that you show support to the Muslims in your own community. Show them we know they are not part of this murderous group called the Taliban, that we accept they are normal people. For if people start attacking them then we turn them from friends to enemies and evil wins.
