Today I was reading how a right wing group of neo-Nazis in the Netherlands wants the war in Iraq to be kickstarted again.
Yesterday I read how a group of Fundamentalists wanted the same thing, only fighting for the opposing side. The (not so) unusual thing was, these fundamentalists are Christian. I’m pretty sure you can take the Fun out of the word and just concentrate on the Mental.
The Christian Church has been promoting wars for centuries, way back to the crusades when they decided to invade someone else’s land in the name of Christianity. Another odd thing is, that the Christian church probably created the Fundamentalism in the Arab world too because it’s unlikely to have come about if some Arab countries hadn’t relaxed their ways in favour of Western freedoms.
I cannot change things in the Arab/ Muslim world, only they can do that for themselves. If they feel that Western Freedoms are the way forward without it breaking their faith then they must press hard for it as they must in Afghanistan.
I cannot change things in the Western world unless I speak out against those things I think are wrong and in favour of those I think are right. I’m lucky to live where it’s possible to vote through the ballot box to try and win the changes I need. It does worry me though that there are more instances of Right Wing groups coming to prominence in places like Germany, France, Greece and now the Ukraine though the latter I put down to the interference of my Government and that of the U.S. who decided to oust the legitimate Government because they were not pro-EU. That was their choice to make. Since then nothing good has happened over there with a civil war broken out and an airliner full of innocent passengers shot down. I wonder how well some politicians sleep at night and the worrying answer is probably quite well.
When Albert Einstein first went to America he was ashamed of the way white people treated black people. He was right. We’ve hopefully come a long way since then.
Now it’s time to think of this bigotry on a worldwide scale and bringing it to an end. If a group of Arabs can publicly hug a group of Jews as happened last week, there’s hope for the world. It can be a frightening place with all the differences we see between us. But, it’s really just a larger picture of the differences between us in our families. We have different hobbies, enjoy different films and books and sometimes like different people. It doesn’t stop us loving them. Nor should it stop us loving those who live elsewhere but practice those differences. We should just learn to celebrate them. It would be wrong to expect us all to be the same, probably boring too.
There are better ways to treat with people than by dropping bombs on them and creating more enemies than you started with.We must learn to treat them as fellow human beings, deserving of our love and respect. We can’t go through life promoting hatred and fighting wars and expect the planet to survive the misery we put her through. We can still keep our armies and navies as a defence against the ‘nasties’ out there,we can use them to help in National disasters but otherwise we should keep them at home. We must make sure we keep the right-wing forces out of Government so that Naziism doesn’t reappear and we find ourselves at the head of it as did Germany in 1936. We don’t need more Hitlers.
David.

As simple as it sounds I think we all need to stop keeping score. It goes beyond forgiveness in my humble opinion anyway. Ah…the world is crazy and what can we do? I guess try to make our little bit a bit better.

Every little bit better eventually becomes a lot better so the more of us that do it, the better it gets. Reading some of your blog shows me you’re already improving life for many and there can’t be anything better than that.

I promise you couldn’t have said anything nicer than that Kate. It’s time those who make money off the back of misery and death were brought down and put out of business. or every generation will be at war and I don’t want my grandchildren killing others.
